Razor/old school cylon toys (and a surprise) unveiled

Diamond Select Toys & Collectibles has new images of their up-and-coming Battlestar Galactica  figures online, including the trio from “Razor” pictured above (click image for hi-res).  Young Adama & Kendra Shaw have their own listings as seperate pieces, but it looks like the re-imagined old school Cylon Centurion will only be available in the three-figure set (all are slated for an 8/15 release).  Another shot of the Cylon and a surprise product are only a click away…

It’s not listed on their site but I was sent this image from Diamond’s booth at Comic Con:

Pierre Drolet’s re-design of the original Cylon Raider, also seen in “Razor!”  It looks very accurate and while there is no info available yet, Diamond’s site will likely post something about it soon enough.  Here’s another image of the redesigned Centurion, also from their booth at Comic Con:

Now all we need is a Young Adama series or DVD movie to give our new toys something to do!

Sweet. I wish that Centurion was available separately. (The wallet be a’hurtin’ these days.)

Dude, you had me at the Centurion . . . but that Raider left my jaw on the floor. Awesome! I must have it.

Yeah, wish the Centurion could be bought separately.

A Kendra Shaw figure makes me uncomfortable, sort of like buying a figure of Kodos the Executioner. I’m not sure why I wouldn’t be as uncomfortable with Darth Vader or the centurion – maybe because they’re partially campy?

The Raider does look absolutely unbelievable, but judging from the prices of Diamond Select’s other ships, so are my chances of being able to afford it. Poop. :(

Quick question: just how much of a “redesign” was the Razor Cylon raider? From what I could tell, it’s nearly identical to the original, but with the bits connecting the “wings” to the body shortened and moved back a bit. Were there more changes?

Gep Malakai – a tip for the writers of “Galaxy Quest” sequels: it’s not a good idea to ask a relative expert questions you can answer yourself, since by the time you get around to questions you can’t answer, he may not return your calls, since he’s under no obligation to do so. You can always get a couple of screenshots and compare them in order to determine whether there were more changes.

What we really need to know is *why* the various changes were made (except when the reason is “It looks cooler”), including the functions of all the new bits and pieces (except when the function is “It looks cool”). However, this is more of a question for Pierre Drolet, assuming he is also responsible for the design of the model. I’d make it a suggestion for a future blog entry, complete with pictures and all.

I don’t want a Young Adama movie or series, because it’s already been done. After all, we know from “Hero” that Adama was born in the year 21290 (see http://media.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Image:Dossier.png) of the Colonial calendar – what happened in 17321, 3332 or 12442?

These rock, and I can’t wait to get one. I’ll take a set of all X 3

Ok, now I’m curious about what people think. When exactly is it inappropriate to make an action figure of a despicable fictional character? If Kendra Shaw is fine, what about Kodos the Executioner, complete with a couple of Anton Karidian outfits?

Pierre Drolet’s re-design of the original Cylon Raider looks absolutely amazing. Any chance you will sometime show off some of the models of ships seen in bsg Mojo? Franky love trying to get good looks at them.

Boris. Im sure it was changed to make it fit into the new series much better by looking more practical by adding guns that fitted the new series look and larger wings for areodinamic etc, much like what Darthmojo did with the viper 2 (correct me if im wrong plz).

I’d like to see “role play” toys of weapons. That would be cool …and more ships other than the “micro” line you can NEVER find anywhere except over-priced on eBay.
